Well into my adult years, I never knew, much less understood, the value of seclusion. I’d heard of the Outer Banks, but never cared enough to visit. Once I experienced the serenity associated w/the vast barrier islands, I was hooked. There is a stillness similar to that heard right after a decent snowfall, if one takes time to listen.
This image from our “Landscape Gallery”, captured along the dunes of the Outer Banks, reminds me of the strength, restraints, and reliability of the sea.
